Summary/Abstract: This publication is designed to illustrate the development of European relations since World War II, when the real need arose for countries devastated by war to establish their relations on new foundations of cooperation and compromise. Until World War II, interstate relations in Europe were mainly regulated on the basis of bilateral agreements between states, so that from the end of World War II until today, European history has actually been a history of multilateral cooperation.
