Summary/Abstract: For over 200 years, Catalonia has signaled its aspirations to gain an independent state. Catalonia's efforts for independence are patriotic and have been carried out for many years in many segments of life. The events that took place in Catalonia in 2017, in connection with the independence referendum, were the culmination of the region's independence efforts over the past hundred years. The 2017 referendum and the declaration of independence by Catalonia had a negative impact on the political and socio-economic stability of the region. The article analyzes the economic effects of the separatist activities in 2017.
