Summary/Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has generated the most severe economic shock of the 21st century, ending the longest growth cycle of the last century. In this context, the first objective of this paper is to provide an estimate of the potential economic impact that the health crisis will have on the European Union countries, taking into account the fiscal, budgetary and monetary measures already implemented. The second objective is to predict the length of time during which measures taken to limit the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus will have an effect on the economic performance of the EU member states. Quantitative analysis has been performed in parallel both through a macroeconomic model of equations and through a model with autoregressive vectors.
