The impact of foreign trade on the economic performance of the countries of the Black Sea region

Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to identify how imports and exports influence the economic performance of countries in the Black Sea region. The choice of countries takes into account a common feature of them considering the direct access to maritime transport whose potential for increasing foreign trade and stimulating economic growth is being investigated. The results of the study highlight the fact that this type of influence may or may not be significant depending on the level of economic development of the analyzed state while the common advantage of the geographical position does not generate the same type of effects for all states.
