COLETTE. THE MASTERPIECE OF A FREE LIFE

Summary/Abstract: Belonging to the literature of the twentieth century, Colette is wrongly placed as a second-rate author, being cast in the shadow of resounding names such as Proust, Gide or Camus, names that are more importants for Romanian criticism. Colette is a writer who can be rediscovered with each reading, and this feature is specific to great authors. At the same time, it is interesting to remark how her tumultous life influences her style. In other words, her complex biographical path determined, at the level of creation, certain specificities. Thus, there is a cause - effect relationship related to the historical events that are reflected in her literary work.
