Summary/Abstract: Sparking such interest through Chéri, the novel she wrote in 1920, Colette chooses to continue the story, keeping her characters, but changing the protagonist. If in Chéri the protagonist was Léa, in The End of Chéri, the main character is Fred Peloux, which we find in the hypostasis of a mature man. The beginning of the novel brings the Fred-Edmée couple to the fore, but time has degraded feelings, changed perspectives, modified characters. The replies of the characters at the beginning of the novel, as well as the environment in which they find themselves, have an anticipatory function regarding the actions that the characters will resort to and that will inevitably lead to their end.
