Summary/Abstract: The authors look at the issue of spatial and temporal deixis from diachronic and synchronic perspective. Diachronically they investigate its exact origin and anchoring in the speech of toddler period based on longitudinal observation of 21 one-hour video recordings carried out once a month, from the age of the child 15 to 36 months. Synchronically they reflect its frequency and contextual use in dialogues of two children of different sex at the age of 4 and a half years with their close relatives in a family environment based on 4 one-hour video recordings. As the dialogues analysed are mainly con-situational, the linguistic expressions of spatial and temporal deixis are in high occurrence. The authors analyse and interpret them on the basis of context, in which dialogue communication takes place. Their analysis has shown that the spatial deixis here is present in the speech of the child relatively more often than there, and that there is mainly present in con-situational type of the dialogue, in contrast to the dialogue between adults, where it is used merely exclusively co-situationally.
