Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is the analysis of the state of contemporary research on small children of preschool age, which has been conducted in social sciences. I point out the key subjects and research problems in preschool pedagogy as well as the sources and latest research results in the quantitative and qualitative paradigm. The paper encourages interdisciplinary research on small children in order to update the state of knowledge about the acceleration of their development.
