Summary/Abstract: Parental authority is the set of rights and duties that concern both the person and the child's property and belong equally to both parents. The beneficiary of parental authority is the child. The revocation of parental rights is a sanction of family law that can be ordered against the parent who does not fulfill or improperly fulfills his parental duties or exercises his parental rights contrary to their purpose, as a result of which the sanctioned parent loses the exercise of parental rights. The sanction of forfeiture of parental rights is pronounced only if it is requested in the best interests of the child.
