Summary/Abstract: The multicultural negotiations for signing the EU documents and especially the Lisbon Treaty prove benefic for the national interest of various countries but have a negative effect on the EU unity, opening a gap between Europe as an entity and European leaders, on the one hand, and the European peoples, on the other. As a result, a growing Euro-skepticism and lack of interest in the community problems. In order to be set again in motion, the European engine needs more than a treaty – it needs a common vision and leaders capable of putting it into practice at a continental level.
