Summary/Abstract: The essay is part of the series launched in 2005 by the magazine „Lettre Internationale”, the Romanian edition, devoted to the professions of faith of the writers and journalists. The author of the essay is a journalist with RFI Romania. He dips into his personal experience to recall the beginnings of independent journalism in post-communist Romania and the financial strings attached to this independence.
