Summary/Abstract: The article is a study on Lucian Blaga’s poetry volume Lauda somnului, which was labelled as the deepest valley crossed by the ever climbing and descending line of Blaga’s lyricism. It focuses on the “gloomy” poems, which reveal the Expressionist vision on the consequences of rejecting the human sensitiveness. The result is that the modern and exclusively rational human being lives in a “fragmentary world” with no harmony, which threatens to become a chaos. In this collapsing spiritual reality, the privileged space of the traditional village remains an etalon that can help the modern man understand his condition.
