Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the transformation of the modern American (and thus, in fact, global) film industry as a result of the development of streaming platforms and VOD. The text outlines three periods of Hollywood’s economic history: classic, intermediate in the 1960s and 1970s, and global Hollywood. The first came to an end with the Paramount Case (Paramount Decree) and its consequences. The second was characterized by financial instability and the lack of a clear economic model. The era of global Hollywood and its logic based on sequential distribution windows is currently being questioned by the results of VOD platforms such as Netflix. This forces both the reorganization of Hollywood (the establishment of its own platforms) and the change in the logic of the operation of the film studios (revision of the sequencing of windows). As a result of fierce competition between platforms, a new order in the audiovisual market may emerge. Even if traditional Hollywood studios retain their dominant position, it is only at the price of a thorough transformation of their business model.
