Experiencing late motherhood – biographies of women

Summary/Abstract: In the article entitled “Experiencing late motherhood – biographies of women” the author deals with the medical, sociological and pedagogical aspects of “late motherhood” experienced by Polish women. Based on a qualitative study using the biographic method carried out through a narrative interview of four women and an analysis of two biographies published on Internet blogs, the author presents the motifs of late pregnancy, experiencing child birth, the ways of coping with several social roles of mother, wife and employee and the organisation of free time of young mature mothers. The deep bond with the child, self-realisation through motherhood and respecting a child’s needs by mature mothers were also analysed.
