Summary/Abstract: For years Poland has experienced the fragmentation of activities related both with public health and health promotion. Such state of affairs called for sistematization, and that is why the year 2015 saw the implementation of Public Health Act, which is regarded a “Health Constitution”, defining the directions for improvement in terms of population health in Poland. The Public Health Act obliged the Council of Ministers to issue a regulation containing the National Health Programme (NPZ by its Polish abbreviation), valid from September 2016. It is important to stress that unlike the previous NPZ, the current one, which is valid for the years 2016-2020, details the funding of the tasks carried out as a part of the operational objectives and coordination tasks, and amounts to 140 mln zl annualy. The aim of the article is to discuss the main points of the Public Health Act and to show the strategic goal and operational objectives described in the National Health Programme for 2016-2020. The study is based on the latest subject literature and the current legal acts and regulations. The analysis method applied in the article is a desk research.
