Summary/Abstract: Quality management systems, often linked with risk management, are a highly effective tool used to minimize the risks that affect patients’ security. Also, they translate into a reduced cost of error correction, and a decrease in the number of compensation claims made by the patients. The aim of the article is to discuss the issues concerning the newly introduced PN-EN ISO 9001:2015 standard, which substitutes the EN ISO 9001:2008 standard, focuses on risk management, and is intended to increase patients’ satisfaction. Moreover, the article discusses the issues related with the new EN 15224 standard, created exclusively for the healthcare sector. Its implementation is intended to increase patients security and minimize the risk of healthcare associated infections. The study is based on the latest subject literature, the current legal acts and the analysis of ISO standard. The analysis method applied in the article is a desk research.
