Summary/Abstract: A cycle of papers initiated as part of the humanistic management, which addresses detailed issues and problems of the demographic growth with a particular emphasis on single households across macro-regions in the fundamental approach, focuses this time on the macro-region in Southern Poland. The objective of this paper is to reveal the impact of ageing society on the increased number of single households. For scientific purposes the thesis was formulated: a low birth rate in Poland will result in declining number of persons at working age, which is thus correlated with an ageing society and increased number of single households. The spotlight was placed on the diversified population across the Southern Macro-Region, where the marital status significantly affects demographic processes, birth rate and establishment of new households. According to statistical data in 2015 the birth rate for Poland stands at 1.36%, but the forecasts estimate the rate at 1.62% in 2060 - which fails to ensure the replacement rate.[The 2015 Ageing Report, p. 400]. The macro-region is composed of two provinces: Silesian and Małopolskie. In the course of analyses it was observed on the basis of own calculations and demographic data published that adverse transitions in the demographic structure occur in the Macro-Region across Southern Poland. This phenomenon is attributed to a remarkably low level of the population growth and progressive ageing of the society, which is principally evident in the population age structure. Further territorial analyses will be conducted across other Polish macro-regions based on single households with a  particular emphasis on widows and divorced women. The cognitive and practical value of these analyses and own research may help economic practitioners and financial institutions to measure the financial potentials while designing the expansion strategy for individual macro-regions over the successive years and taking into account an intellectual and financial potentials across specific social groups.
