Summary/Abstract: The ageing of the population is a global and irreversible process, highly varied regionally. Generally, it can be assumed that the higher the degree of socio-economic development of the country, the higher the level of ageing of the population (...) This means that making it to the old age is no longer a “reserved” for a few people, but it is a growing part of the population, thereby also increasing the heterogeneity of the population of the elderly. The purpose of this article is to identify the factors determining economic, social, touristic, recreational and educational activities of senior citizens. Also, drawing attention to the actual needs of this social group on the basis of a review of the existing research in this area. Social tourism has become a way of life in selected Polish regions, as well as for the beneficiaries of those services who appreciate organized tourism tailored to the individual needs of the given segment based on demographics and health status, that determines conditions for the next activity in the group.
