Summary/Abstract: Oral communication skills are of utmost importance in planning, organizing, and presenting information on a variety of topics. Consequently, English courses and seminars for the first and second year master students in economicsrequire, in my opinion, a communicative syllabus – student-oriented and gearing its objectives to what students actually need after graduation. The paper attempts to contribute to a specific perspective of how language use reflects underlying communicative needs of our students. Its aim is to point out how syllabus design (several particular elements only) and methodology can respond to the need for communicative uses of language in the classroom, and finally how language reflects its communicative uses, within the boundaries of a specific professional framework.
