Summary/Abstract: The main thesis of the List of Names of the Bulgarian Khans is to show the rise and fall of the legitimate ruling Dulo clan, anointed by the Heavens to rule for a period of 638 years, in contrast to the other clans, who had usurped the power for 29 years and 40 days. The family history marks two periods of upsurge, followed by short political crises. The first one was caused by the Ermi family at the beginning of the 7th century, which ceased the Hun state tradition of Dulo for two years, revived with Great Old Bulgaria. The second political crisis in the nineteenth century lasted for 27 years and 40 days, but the logic of the List of Names of the Bulgarian Khans assumed the revival of the Dulo clan upon the restoration of its power. This breve which finishes off the clan’s chronicle, proves the hypothesis that the 200-year-old ruling Krum dynasty belonged to the Dulo clan, and this fact explains the translation of the text into the new sacred Cyrillo-Methodian language in the 10th century. The List of Names of the Bulgarian Khans marked the two epochs of the Assyrian kings before and after the capture of Jerusalem and the construction of the new city of Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar, which in a symbolical way corresponded to the pagan and Christian period of the Bulgarians. At the same time, he motivates the reason of King Simeon to have a claim on the Basil's throne in Constantinople by opposing the charismatic clan power to that of the non-legitimate usurper Roman Lakapin. The entry of the List of Names of the Bulgarian Khans into the world history prior to Nebuchadnezzar can be interpreted as a prefiguration of the longing to conquer the New Jerusalem, while the New Babylon reminds of the construction of Preslav with the favorite ceramic decoration of the East.
