Summary/Abstract: City registry books, inventories, church record books (for baptism, marriage, death records) and other historical sources are among the most valuable 16th–18th century documents of the historical anthroponymy of Lithuanian townspeople. A chronologically unique Joniškis baptism record book of 1599–1621, which is currently the oldest known book of this type in Lithuania, is especially noteworthy. The article addresses 168 male personal names from Joniškis (second components of binary naming) collected from this book from the perspective of word-formation.
