Summary/Abstract: Poland, in order to quickly increase social welfare, must change the factors on which economic growth is based. This requires increasing innovation. Enterprises must cease to rely on the production of simple goods and services based on cheap labor as the basis of competitiveness. At the macroeconomic level, there are created strategies and programs to support changes in the direction of modernizing the economy. The managers are also aware of this. Therefore, many domestic enterprises implement research programs and create R & D cells. One of them is Solaris, which, using both its own resources and the EU, successfully implements an innovative program. Currently, it is a global leader in terms of technical solutions used in its products. However, sustainable competitiveness requires also change in approach to employees. They should stop being treated only as a cheap labor force and become partners. The aim of the article was a synthetic verification of this hypothesis with reference to Solaris S.A.
