Summary/Abstract: Poland, wanting to catch up with highly developed countries, needs to boost economic growth. However, this requires fulfilling many conditions. One of them is providing electricity adapted to the needs of the economy. The aim of the article was a synthetic analysis of the production and transmission infrastructure (the two most important elements of the system) in the context of Poland's energy security. This allowed us to verify the hypothesis, which was: the current decapitalization of energy assets negatively affects the country's energy security. This poses a potential threat to the pace of economic development. Especially, the change in the factors on which it is based and the increase in wealth will increase the demand for energy.
