Summary/Abstract: This paper intends to bring forward, to the reader, an old time custom: şezătoarea and the ways in which this was performed in Sibiu County, on the Târnave Valley. Despite its complexity and significations, şezătoarea is no longer a part of the peasants’ life and exists mainly in the passive memory of the elders. However, it can be still reacted on special occasions such as field research or TV shows.
