THE STRUGGLE OF SHKODRA AGAINST HAFIZ PASHA ACCORDING TO HISTORICAL EPIC

Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the cycle of historical songs which sing about the Shkodrans bravery against Hafiz Pasha during the Struggle of Shkodra in 1835. The Shkodrans won this struggle against Turkish military forces. Historical epic in a special way has sung and perpetuates in art perpetrations (doings) of personalities who led these important events for liberty and independence. According to these historical songs, the figures of Hamëz Kazazi, Dasho Shkreli and of other warriors, honour and enrich our national history. Songs and various variations that reflect Shkodra’s Struggle of 1835, are almost identical in the contents aspect. Their artistic realisation and length of verses in certain songs, is the only exception. These songs are of a great importance in comprehensive and artistic aspect, because they magnify a certain historical period of our people in their fight for freedom.
