Summary/Abstract: This paper explores whether the social memory of people who have changed their residence is preserved. Under this line we will focus on one of the most typical pre-urban areas in Albania, the Kamza area. In this case we are doing “Anthropology at Home”, which gives us the opportunity to be researchers of the society we live in. Tribal ties, and social memory, are the foundation upon which new relationships arise, under a new conjecture that carries the most dynamic complexity that human relationships can cross. The new reality has been a constant challenge in the 26 years of freedom that Albanians have tried. During this time they had to adapt, to change, but the memory retention line for the birthplace, the preservation of tribal ties, was present. Placement of dwellings based on kinship relationships (the causes of which are more complicated), to say that in all major life activities such as weddings, deaths, births, etc. these relationships are reversed. The central thrust that is raised is: Is the social memory of these inhabitants preserved, and what are the ways of its emergence? There are two theoretical lines that explain this dynamics. The former argues that social memory and tribal links are forgotten, in function of creating new reality, and adapting to new conditions. Second, it is argued that social memory and tribal connections are outlined, perhaps with certain modifications, but in essence the memory is very important for preserving the identity of the inhabitants. The work will be focused on the direct observation method, through field contacts, with different interviews and surveys.
