Summary/Abstract: In Albanian language, the semantic-grammatical category of gender has become mainly a grammatical category: the neuter gender has been scaled-down and this has led to the gradual process of reducing the triple gender system into a dual gender system. The neutral gender in today's Albanian is very wrinkled and unstable. Although it has been a gender used throughout the Albanian language, in nowadays we can speak about remains of this gender. In Atlasi dialektologjik i gjuhës shqipe (The dialectal atlas of Albanian language), special attention has been paid to the group of nouns that were once in the neuter gender, while today they are mainly masculine nouns, although there are a few cases when these nouns are used as neutral or female nouns. Such nouns are: ujë (water), mish (meat), djathë (cheese), lesh (wool), mjaltë (honey) etc. Since the collection of the examples was made during 1980-1989, we thought to make another process of collecting these examples in different Albanian speeches , in order to study the current usage of these uses, which would give us the opportunity to note the changes that have occurred during these 30 years in the use of neuter gender in nouns and the tendency of this group of nouns to be used as male or female nouns.
