Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVES: The main objective of the article is to present the concept of talent management and to assess its suitability in managing family businesses. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The article is an attempt to find the respond to the question whether talent management is an important area of managerial decisions (from the point of view of the manager/ owner of a family company). It uses the method of literature analysis and scientific reports on family business research. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article consists of two parts. The first presents theoretical considerations, in which the essence of the concept of talent management was reviewed and the benefits of implementing the talent management concept were identified. In the second part, the results of research are approximated. They justify the need to implement a professional approach to talent management in family businesses. RESEARCH RESULTS: Talent management is associated with the practice of human resource management in the international corporations. The implementation of this concept is a potential source of benefits for the company. These include increase the efficiency and the effectiveness in operating activities, improve recognition on the labor market, ability to develop key competences. In the conditions of rising labor costs and increasing competition for employees, talent management is considered a necessity. Given the limited capital and human resources available to family businesses, the concept of talent management is particularly important in this case. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Talent management should be treated as an essential element of managing a family business. Skilful use of talents contributes to shaping the innovation potential of a family business and building a quality advantage over market rivals. Therefore, it determines the functioning of the family business on markets dominated by international companies.
