Constellations of the Neo-Avant-garde in Women’s Poetry as Exemplified by the Works of Julia Fiedorczuk

Summary/Abstract: The paper challenges the common view within the history of Polish literature thatschematically places women’s poetry outside modernism and avant-garde. The authoressemploys the concept of neo-avant-garde to characterize the so-far omitted poetic projectsby women, dismissed to date as marginal or “quasi-avant-garde”. In the article, shedemonstrates ways in which Julia Fiedorczuk’s intellectual, self-reflexive and experimentalpoetry draws upon and refashions the avant-garde tradition.
