Summary/Abstract: At the French Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem (École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem) there is a Dominican Library which contains about 150,000 volumes on the ancient Near East, the Bible, archaeology, extra-biblical literature of that time. Furthermore, it has 18,000 precious glass negatives from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which recorded archaeological discoveries and study of inscriptions in various ancient languages. This library, next to the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, has the world›s largest specialist collection of books in the field of biblical archaeology. The French Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem was a forerunner in applying the historical-critical method in Biblical studies.
