Summary/Abstract: Objective. The aim of the paper was to analyze sexual behaviors of medical personnel working at obstetric and gynecology wards and to evaluate the frequency of sexual disorders in this group Materials and Methods. Two hundred and forty men and women, aged 22–62 years old, living in Silesian region, were included in this cross-section, questionnaire based study. The respondents were divided into 8 subgroups of 30 people each depending on their gender and profession. A standardized and validated Polish version of Mell-Krat scale was used to evaluate sexual needs and reactions in female (SFK/K) and male (SFK/M) respondents. Results. The average age of sexual initiation was 19.4±2.2 (14–28) years for women and was 18.5±2.2 (13–23) yeas for men. No differences were observed in the number of sexual partners between subgroups of women. In the case of men, gynecologists and doctors who were not gynecologists declared to have the largest number of sexual partners. No statistical differences with respect to satisfaction with sexual life between subgroups of women and men were noted. 10% of the female respondents and 5.5% of the male respondents were diagnosed with sexual disorders based on DSM-5 criteria. The frequency of sexual disorders based on the Mell-Krat scale was 56% for women and 8.8% for men. The actual profession does not have any influence on the frequency of the sexual reaction and function disorders based on the Mell-Krat scale in either of the gender groups. Conclusions. Sexual disorders diagnosed based on the Mell-Krat scale were more frequent in the female compared to the male group. The actual profession was not a risk factor for the sexual disorder in both gender groups.
