Summary/Abstract: Open-access scholarly periodicals play an increasingly important part in scholarly communications, and due to the unlimited access to their content, they may be read and quoted more frequently than periodicals which are disseminated in a traditional manner. The purpose of the article is to present the quantitative state of open-access periodicals representing the humanities. An in-depth analysis was performed on Polish periodicals representing the field of bibliology and informatology. The article presents the results of research of 2014 and 2018 which have to do with inter alia the visibility of the particular titles in the catalogues of open-access periodicals, the strategies of publishing periodicals and the application of the Creative Commons licence or the software which is used to ensure the availability of articles. Quantitative presentations of the particular criteria demonstrate the development of Open Access in bibliology and informatology in the period of the last four years.
