Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to focus mainly on the novella The Metamorphosis (1912), written by Franz Kafka, in order to prove the thesis that the motif of a man’s transformation into an animal in the narrative world of Franz Kafka is actually a metaphor, namely, a kind of a paradigm or literary model for the existential embarrassment and impotence of the subject and his subversive resistance against all instances and power structures, with “the degradation of a man in an animal”, seen as an allegory of punishment against that revolt.
