Summary/Abstract: Professional functioning of the institutions of social assistance depends primarily on the effective work of its employees, in particular social workers, whose main task is action to individuals, families, social groups and communities, are in a difficult situation. The article elaborates on the management of human resources in the organizational units of social assistance (also in the light of existing regulations) For this purpose analyzed primarily two planes of human resources management, namely recruitment and selection processes and shaping the professional development of social workers. There has also present a study on the key success factors of functioning of institutions of social assistance and social workers and managers regarding the sphere of human resource management.
