Principles of data protection - from theory to practice

Summary/Abstract: The principles of data protection are analyzed at the conference that takes place on the 25th of May 2018, the day on which the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been implemented. The importance of the principles is highlighted in the context of the continuity of their interpretation under the regime of the Directive and the application of the GDPR on data protection at EU level. On one hand we underlined two examples in which Romanian courts applied the Regulation, and on the other hand we stated the importance of the principles in the case law of the Court of Justice. The principles of data protection are the elements which in practice will enshrine the proportionate and equitable application of the Regulation.
