Summary/Abstract: The thoughts expressed in this article focus on the differentiation between the traditional ways of ‘arranging’ our reality and knowledge and a modern sociological typology of the reality of actions. An example of this differentiation can be found in the concept of philistinism, which – largely unaware of its premises and therefore never disputed – defines personalities, social groups, institutions, roles and behavioural norms. In this it refers to the manifested structures of the social world which also favour the predetermined forms of thinking, culture, morals and politics.
