Summary/Abstract: The idea of continuous improvement is one of the basic assumptions of many modern concepts and management methods, ie: Lean Management, Total Quality Management,Six Sigma, Quality Management Systems (QMS) according to ISO standards, theory of constraints, learning organization. An important part of continuous improvementis recognizing the problems that occur in the organization, seeking out the causes, and finding solutions to problems. The effectiveness of these activities largely depends on thestaff involved in solving organizational problems and interested in improvements. The aimof the study is to present the essence of continuous improvement with particular attentionto problem solving and to highlight the importance of social determinants of activities in this field. The analysis and evaluation of the subject matter was based on the study of theliterature of the subject, the results of other authors’ research and the author’s own research (surveys conducted in the selected company).
