Summary/Abstract: Support system for individuals and families includes numerous institutions and forms, but it demands on-going changes and modifications adjusted to social needs. An important, if not the most important human need, is the need for housing where a human being can function and feel safe. The state responds to human needs in this respect, which is reflected, inter alia, in the support of young people to purchase their first flat, by social housing, municipal flats, social assistance homes, night shelters for the homeless and also sheltered housing – which are important institutions, although less known from both a social and scientific points of view, within the framework of pedagogical explorations. Thus, an attempt at a comprehensive presentation of sheltered housing with current legal regulations and their empirical parameters is justified.
