Change of the paradigm and method of modern economics – the role of behavioral economics

Summary/Abstract: Contemporary economics is increasingly opening up to some of the heterodox economic trends, putting them into consideration. This is particularly evident in case of behavioral economics, which is regarded by some economists even as an element of mainstream economics. The aim of the article is to analyze the change of paradigm and research methods of traditional economics, and synthetic indication of the importance of behavioral economics (and its sub-disciplines) in this regard. The considerations present in this article are based on a literature review. The realization of this goal requires a brief outline of the basic assumptions and methods of traditional economics. Then the most important areas of the contribution of behavioral economics to modern economics were focused on.
