Pursuing fiscal sustainability on the example of the Polish economy

Summary/Abstract: Nowadays fiscal instability is a phenomenon that does not arise from cyclical fluctuations, but the failure of the state not undertaking appropriate actions in the pursuit of fiscal consolidation. Achieving fiscal sustainability nowadays should be dealt with in terms of coercion stemming primarily from the imposed fiscal rules. The aim of this article is to present the existing fiscal rules in Poland, as well as the analysis of the situation of public finances during 2004-2013 period and undertaken consolidation actions.
