Summary/Abstract: Solaris (1972) in technical terms is Tarkovsky’s most wonderful film, though its director considered it a failure. It is also an attempt to dissolve the technical and archetypal codes of the science fiction genre. All elements of the archetypal dramaturgy are present in Solaris: four-five principles, male and female presence, profane and sacred time and space, iconic images, dramaturgy of colors, and sounds. These elements slowly manage to penetrate through the obligatory script of fantastic presentations. The cognitive and musical/poetical centres of Solaris are the scene of Snaut’s birthday in the library, that of Chris and Snaut talking on the passageway of the spaceport, and the dace scene of Chris and Harley. These form the parts of the Hegelian iconostasis.
