Summary/Abstract: In the article there has been the analysis of Piotrkow’s historical anthroponyms made for the presence of dialect characteristics. Piotrkow’s historical surnames registered in the documents of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries contain some phonetical dialect elements typical of the region. These features are of varying intensity in different time intervals, certifying sometimes the direction of changes taking place in Piotrkow’s dialects that complies with the dialectological research of the area in question. Piotrkow’s historical anthroponyms record the characteristics of Lesser Poland (e.g. the loss of nasal resonance, implementation iL > eL), Greater Poland (e.g. replacing v (< w) with b), Mazovia (e.g. implementation ja- > je- and ja- > je-), Mazovia and Lesser Poland (e.g. mazuration, transition from iN // yN into eN) or Mazovia and Greater Poland (e.g.the presence of the group of -’ew-). This article may be, to a certain extent, the complement of the considerations of Piotrkow’s dialects or, more broadly, former Sieradz and Łęczyca Land located on the border of Lesser Poland, Greater Poland and Mazovia.
