Summary/Abstract: The study assumes the use of old printed maps for conducting spatial analyses in the GIS environment. Information, in the form of point data on concentration of trace elements in soils of the Łódź agglomeration, was digitalised and then interpolated. The article includes descriptions of subsequent stages of operations performed in order to obtain digital results, as close as possible to data included in the geochemical atlas. The resultant geobase will be used for conducting spatial analyses aimed at delimiting areas of various degree of both heavy metal pollution and nutrient richness.
