Summary/Abstract: Making choices is one of the most important issues in economic theory. Neoclassical economics explain economic decisions making using the model of homo economicus, who is subjected to criticism by a number of trends of heterodox economics. One of them, constituting part of behavioral economics and experimental economics, is neuroeconomics. The rapidly evolving neuroeconomics, using economic experiments provides empirical evidence for cognitive and computational constraints and explains and forecasts the choices, behaviors and attitudes of people. The aim of the study is to present the origins of the neuroeconomics, the essence of the science and its research areas. The realization of this goal required the use of methods of analysis of literature and its synthesis.
