Summary/Abstract: This paper advances the thesis that cultural heritage, hand in hand with cultural identity, is a value-neutral term and that it therefore expresses a great potential as a tool of conflict resolution and an instrument of cultural-political reconciliation. The paper analyses the suitability of UNESCO system of protection of intangible cultural heritage as an adequate framework for positive instrumentalisation.
