Summary/Abstract: Polish Association of the Deaf descends from associations created in Poland at the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries. It is an organization which continuously helps deaf people and people with impaired hearing. In years 1966-1981 it’s activity was focused on the issues concentrated around education, employment, vocational training, health and social care. Active members of the association were developing physical culture, sport and tourism, and they were popularizing culture. They were organizing sign language courses. They were creating the lists of people with impaired hearing to help their charges more effectively. In years 1966-1970, for the first time were created Rehabilitation clinics for children with impaired hearing in regional towns and logopedic points in smaller towns. Members of PAD were helping not only adults and children, improving the deaf people situation and people’s with impaired hearing situation. They were also interested in helping school children and students. They were acting to solve different problems and to satisfy deaf community needs. Moreover, in August 1967 they organized The 5th Congress of The World Federation of the Deaf.
