Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the relationship between the moral and the cognitive reasoning, taking in view a comparison on two selected aspects: their definition and the kind of mental processes involved by them. The analysis is guided by a new, integrative, definition of the reasoning, proposed by me in the present paper. It roughly asserts that by a reasoning process, a value of a variable is obtained based on the values of other variables and of a system including all these variables. The essence of this definition is that a reasoning process operates at a variable level, not on a value level.
