Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes, in the first place, the traditional meaning of the concept of cognitive schema in the cognitive psychology. This analysis revealed that a symbolic computationalist paradigm is inappropriate in what respects the interpretation of the main attributes ascribed to that concept on empirical bases. Instead, a dynamic approach is considered to be more advantageous for the understanding of those properties. Therefore, in the second place, the new concept of dynamic cognitive schema is introduced and defined. The traditional properties of a cognitive schema are reinterpreted dynamically and new properties are identified as relevant for the proposed concept.
