Summary/Abstract: Yugoslavia is inhabited by several nations: Croats, Macedonians, Montenegrins, Moslems in the national sense, Serbs and Slovenes, and several nationalities whose parent nations live outside Yugoslavia: Albanians, Bulgarians, Czechs, Italians, Hungarians, Rumanians, Ruthenians, Slovaks and Turks, and also by some other numerically smaller national and ethnic groups. The Constitution guarantees citizens free expression of their nationality and equality among the nations and nationalities of Yugoslavia. In all population censuses taken after the war respondents were asked to state to which nation or ethnic group they belonged. In answering this question respondents expressed their personal feelings.
