Summary/Abstract: The most pervasive propaganda tool used by representatives of the Milan Nedić government was the press. The publishing and editing of articles and newspapers and publication of articles was strictly censored. Some of the papers were published in order to spread Serbian national ideology and encourage a return to the traditional values. There was a constant threat of turning collaborationist newspapers, which were a propaganda tool of the „Government of National Salvation,” into the propaganda weapon against the same government, depending on the situation on the military fronts and the requests of the German censorship. The unavoidable factor in the propaganda activities of Nedić’s government was the Ministry of Economy, subordinated to the Headquarters of the general commissioner for the economy in Serbia. The Ministerial Council Presidency worked on a project dubbed the Serbian Farmers’ Cooperative State. Modeled after German examples, the National Service for the Renewal of Serbia was introduced and a national economic plan was prepared. The focus was on the idea of cooperative farming and turning toward the countryside. The expansion of economic propaganda was in tune with German plans for the economic exploitation of Serbia. Slogans used by propagandists consisted of concisely formulated messages: attitudes, goals, appeals, invitations, and tasks. They were aimed at the pacification of the population and starting economic reconstruction.
